Special Guest Speaker

This year’s KCEA meeting welcomes special guest R. Michael Paige, who will be giving the keynote address Supporting Our Students Global and Intercultural Learning: High Impact Practices at Home and Abroad and facilitating some of the available workshops.

R. Michael PaigeR. Michael Paige is an internationally recognized leader in international and intercultural education. A Fulbright Senior Scholar to Kenya, Dr. Paige has also been recognized by the Forum on Education Abroad and the Society for Intercultural Education, Training, and Research in Japan for his research and advocacy for education abroad. He is a senior instructor for IDI (Intercultural Development Inventory) Qualifying Seminars, an instructor for the European Association for International Education (EAIE) Academy and teaches in the Summer Institute for Intercultural Communication, founded by Milton Bennett and Janet Bennett.

Maximizing Study Abroad: A Student’s Guide to Strategies for Language and Culture Learning (2006), co-authored by Paige, Cohen, Kappler, Chi and Lassegard, changed the way international educators engaged with students before, during and after an international experience.  Paige served on the editorial board for the 2015 SAGE Encyclopedia of Intercultural Competence, vols. 1 and 2; and co-edited Student Learning Abroad: What our Students are Learning, What They’re Not, and What We Can Do about It (2012).

Location and Directions:

Parking Structure #2 can be accessed by entering from University Boulevard and the structure is marked on the campus map with a red star. If you plan to arrive to campus after 12:00pm, please utilize the Diddle South public parking lot marked with a green “P” on the Parking Map.

All events and sessions will be held in the (HCIC) which is a short walk from Parking Structure #2. On the campus map attached to this email the HCIC is listed as “HC” and is marked by a red rectangle.
